Raquel, You can create a simple Agreement that lists what the donation levels are and the corresponding benefits for the sponsor. You can have a section for the responsibilities of each party and then space for signature and dates. The main thing is just that each party has clear expectations of the arrangement.

Mille, Good question! The most expensive thing on the budget would be sound and timing equipment. If this is a walk-a-thon and not a race, then you could get by without the timing equipment. Contact an audio store and/or DJs in your area to get quotes on audio equipment and services. You can also contact a local running store who may be able to help you. Many of the other items such as t-shirts, prizes and printing you can get underwritten or donated. So while you should get quotes for prices, it is likely that you can get them basically for free considering business sponsors.

Luke, I believe their race started at a shopping mall and went around city streets. They got permission from the city and had police monitoring. Budget depends on how big you want to make it. One of the biggest expenses is usually equipment such as sound and chip timing. A good place to start would be to contact a running store and/or club in your area for a potential partnership.
