I'll be planning a fundraiser for Children's Cancer Hospital in my area. My younger cousin had been in treatment there for some months before she passed away because of this disease. She was only 3 then and the only born daughter of her parents. Though the hospital is one of the best in the town, but it gives me jitters whenever i pass through it. I thin by working with this hospital i would be able to overcome my grief due to the loss of my cousin and the fear of cancer. I’m glad this event was such a success. Planning an event that people are excited to go to not just because it's a "good cause" but also because it will be enjoyable. Tailor your event to the interests of the community. Maybe where you live a less formal event would be more popular. In all remember that with special events, the majority of funds raised don't come from ticket sales. It comes from add-on fundraisers like auctions. Choosing a theme that fits literacy would also help you be successful. For example, a book sale or read-a-thon. Im in the literacy program here and in charge of the fund raising also. That would help our literacy program out alot with that much money. Im in Georgia also, we had our first fund raising last year, i sent out about 300 letters asking for donations. I could use all the help i can get.
