I'd suggest that a group who has never golf before partner with another organization on one first. They could possibly raise more funds and do it more efficiently. Then instead of having to do <i>everything</i> themselves, they'd have the time to spend with donors at the event, as you mentioned. I've typically steered away from charity golf tournaments as they can be so much work to get started. But they can be a lot of fun.
